22 March is World Water Day, and water & sanitation are really at the heart of everything we do at the Human Needs Project.
Last year alone, we distributed 11,311,600 liters of clean, filtered water through our 4-step filtration system!
It’s easy to take water for granted but around the world, women and girls spend a combined 200 million hours every single day collecting it.
These journeys are long, exhausting, and often unsafe. And even after hours of walking, the water they bring home isn’t always clean, putting families at risk of diseases like cholera.

BUT WHAT IF WE TOLD YOU THAT
$50 CAN MAKE A TANGIBLE DIFFERENCE?
Here is what $50 mean:
It means 11,000 liters of clean drinking water
It means 550 jerrycans filled
It means two families with safe water for an entire month
But beyond the numbers, it gives women and girls the most valuable resource — time.
Today, we have 5 water points in Kibera serving +700 families.
Our water is clean, reliable, and affordable — even when other providers raise their prices. These water points save women and girls hours of walking and give them a safe place to collect water. Families are seeing real health improvements, with fewer waterborne diseases. And something we hear often? Our water just tastes better!
We also want to give a shoutout to our incredible partners, Grundfos Foundation and Water Hope. Our system runs on Grundfos pumps, drawing water from a 300-meter-deep well. Water Hope helped us expand our reach with a water truck and the build-out of three additional water points.
If this resonates with you, we’d love your support today. Every contribution goes directly toward expanding access to clean, safe water in Kibera.
