This year's Human Needs Project Annual Benefit is gearing up to be truly special — and today we're thrilled to share what the evening will sound like.
Grammy-Nominated Jason Crosby at the Piano
We're excited to announce that Grammy-nominated artist, singer and songwriter Jason Crosby will accompany our seated dinner on piano on October 15.
A multi-instrumentalist whose work on piano, violin, guitar, and vocals has made him a beloved presence in the extended Grateful Dead family and beyond, Jason is a longtime collaborator with Phil Lesh, Jackson Browne, and numerous acclaimed artists. He's known for his soulful musicianship, improvisational spirit, and genre-spanning performances that blend rock, Americana, jazz, and roots music into a sound that is uniquely his own.
The Music Starts the Moment You Arrive
Our reception will be accompanied by Baba Ken Okulolo and The Nigerian Brothers, bringing the joyful sounds of Nigerian folk music — harmonious voices, lilting guitars, and traditional percussion — as you browse our mini CA-African Market, featuring African and local vendors, artisans, jewelry, fashion, and handmade pieces.

Our friend Steve Parish is donating an original 1980 Grateful Dead poster to our Live Auction.
Steve has been part of the Grateful Dead family for more than five decades — first joining the band as a roadie before becoming Jerry Garcia's trusted gear handler and manager of the Jerry Garcia Band. Today, he hosts The Big Steve Hour on SiriusXM's Grateful Dead Channel, where he shares stories from his decades on the road with the band.
On October 15, one lucky guest will take home a genuine piece of San Francisco music history — while supporting clean water, education, and opportunity in Kibera.
