In early January, we were honored to welcome Atieno Asiyo to the Human Needs Project Centre.

Atieno Asiyo is the daughter of the late Phoebe Muga Asiyo, one of Kenya’s most respected women leaders and activists, whose legacy in advancing women’s rights, education, and social justice continues to inspire generations. Today, Atieno carries this legacy forward through her own work as a Deputy Director at OSIENALA, where she focuses on environmental protection, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
During her visit, Atieno toured our centre and engaged with colleagues across different departments, learning more about our state-of-the-art water filtration systems, our empowerment services, and the water plant. She was particularly impressed by our urban farming and climate-smart projects, and the tangible impact they are creating for farmers, schools, and the wider Kibra community.

The visit was a powerful reminder of how aligned our missions are, working at the intersection of community development, climate action, and social justice, with people at the centre of everything we do. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our work and to connect with leaders who are driving change in Kenya and beyond.
