The HNP team is on the ground in Kenya this month, with co-founder David Warner, Executive Director Kristina Yarmolich, and board members Daniel Kammen, John Gage, and Hitesh Shah all here in person.
Our journey began in Kitale, where we visited Altow Farms to learn how innovative farming practices are transforming rural economies. Seeing firsthand how agriculture can fuel sustainable livelihoods was both insightful and energizing for our work.

From there, we traveled to Sauti Kuu Foundation, founded by Auntie Auma Obama, sister of President Barack Obama. We were deeply inspired by their holistic approach to youth empowerment—combining academic education, life skills, sports, and agricultural training into a vibrant, cohesive community. The sense of purpose and opportunity for the children there was nothing short of remarkable.

Now, we’re turning our attention back to Kibera, where we’re preparing to host the California Delegation and showcase the heart of HNP’s impact.
We’re honored to share this journey with you and can’t wait to bring more stories from the field in the weeks ahead.
With gratitude,
Human Needs Project team
